Vertas Group Chief People Officer Kate Innes has successfully completed an incredible 550km cycle from Vietnam to Cambodia to raise funds for Brain Tumour Research.
The challenging cycle ride, part of the Women V Cancer initiative, took place between the 25th of November and the 4th of December. Kate completed approx. 500km alongside about 75 other cyclists to raise vital funds and awareness for cancer charities. The monumental achievement highlights Kate’s dedication to making the difference beyond the workplace.
The eight-day challenge began in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and finished at the iconic Angkor Wat in Cambodia, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Beyond the physical demands of the ride, Kate’s journey carried a personal significance. She took on the challenge in memory of her father, who passed away from a brain tumour in 2021.
Kate’s motivation is to raise funds for Brain Tumour Research, a UK charity dedicated to funding sustainable, long-term research into this devastating disease. Despite brain tumours accounting for more deaths among children and adults under 40 than any other cancer, only 1% of national cancer research funding is allocated to this cause.
Kate’s efforts aim to raise awareness of the urgent need for research and resources to fight brain tumours. After completing her challenge, Kate expressed, “It has been an incredible experience. I have loved every minute of it. It has been awesome and I would recommend it to anyone”.
As a company, Vertas Group is incredibly proud of Kate’s accomplishment and her dedication to making a positive impact in her own time. Her efforts underscore the Group’s shared values of social responsibility and compassion.
Through initiatives like these, Vertas Group is reminded of the importance of supporting colleagues in their personal achievements and charitable pursuits. Kate’s accomplishment is a reminder that making the difference doesn’t stop at the Vertas Group doors.
From Vertas Group, we congratulate Kate on this fantastic accomplishment. Completing this challenge is an incredible achievement. We’re inspired by her dedication and proud to have leaders like Kate who embody our values.
