As we celebrate National Inclusion Week 2025 and this year’s theme ‘Now is the Time’, we’re reminded that inclusion isn’t just a one-time achievement, it’s a continuous commitment. This year, we’ve worked hard to embed inclusion into everything we do, ensuring every colleague feels seen, heard, and valued. This commitment is reflected in our shortlist for the 2025 annual Making the Difference Awards, which celebrate individuals who go above and beyond.
Among the incredible individuals shortlisted is neurodivergent colleague Lizzie Percival, Graphic Designer at Vertas Group. We spoke with Lizzie to talk about her neurodiversity, Vertas Group’s support, and what being shortlisted means to her:

“As someone who has dyslexia, autism, and ADHD, I am proud of my neurodiversity, but this wasn’t always the case. There was a time when I felt embarrassed and ashamed that I was ‘different’. I would be scared to mention my neurodiversity to new employers because I knew I would be met with prejudice and discrimination. Because of this, I have spent most of my career feeling like a fraud and that I didn’t deserve my place in a team. I have always had to fight to prove my worth and have my voice heard.
However, I’m so incredibly lucky that I have now found myself in an amazing and supportive team where I’m treated with respect and, most importantly, as an equal.
Being part of a team that truly supports and believes in its people has helped me grow in ways I never thought possible. The encouragement and sense of value I’ve experienced has made a real difference to my journey. Being shortlisted for ‘Colleague of the Year’ at this year’s Making the Difference Awards means so much and it’s a reflection of the people around me who’ve helped me to shine.”
Lizzie’s nomination highlights both her outstanding contributions and the supportive, inclusive culture that enables her to shine. This is a brilliant example of how diverse perspectives strengthen our workplace and how, with the right support, everyone can reach their full potential.
Our Making the Difference Awards is a celebration of excellence and collaboration. We look forward to the ceremony on Friday, 7th November at Milsoms, Kesgrave Hall.
