Facility management provider, Vertas Environmental (waste and recycling division of Vertas Group Limited) and Sackers have partnered up to deliver sustainable waste solutions for Ipswich Town Football Club to make the club more sustainable.

Jointly we won the contract in January 2020 and are providing around 40 large commercial wheelie bins for the mixed recycling, cardboard, food waste and general waste as well as a glass recycling solution all on weekly collection throughout the season.

Ian Surtees, CEO of Vertas Group Limited, said: “Everyone is aware of the environmental impact waste is having on the world, working with Sackers gives us the ability to deliver sustainable solutions through our facility management.”

Nigel Slinn, Commercial Director at Sackers says “It’s great to be able to continue to support a club close to all of our hearts. We have a recycling target of over 90% of all wastes we manage through our waste facility and using our vast network of contacts along with our industry knowledge, we continue to innovate and source alternative solutions that will benefit both the customer and the Environment”.

Richard Kerry, Ipswich Town stadium manager said: “It is essential that we recycle as much as possible and at ITFC we want to lead by example and will be installing new mixed recycling bins around the stadium to make the whole process as easy as possible.”

The Club’s director of sales, Rosie Richardson, added: “We were the first carbon neutral football club and we are constantly looking at ways to ensure we operate ethically. We’re a true Blue club but want to go ‘green’ in terms of waste management and reinforcing the already established links between Vertas and Sackers is allowing us to meet such objectives.”
