Exec Experiences Half Marathon: Vertas colleagues go the extra mile for CRUK

Submitted by Connie Maddock | 23/09/2024

For the fourth Exec Experience event, Vertas Group colleagues took on the Ipswich Half marathon on September 22nd, raising funds for Cancer Research UK.

The Ipswich Half Marathon held special significance for the business as a hometown event. The tremendous effort made by colleagues wasn’t just about crossing the finish line but also about making a meaningful impact.

The challenge was no easy feat; however, the Group is pleased to share that all 9 colleagues completed the total distance of 13.1 miles. After both a physical and mental challenge, the team crossed the finish line, having done their personal best and made a significant contribution to Cancer Research UK.

Among the impressive achievements, the fastest runner in Vertas Group’s Exec Experiences team completed the race in just 1 hour and 50 minutes.

Each participant was tasked with raising a minimum of £100 for Cancer Research UK, a challenge embraced wholeheartedly. The team successfully raised £2,151.20 for the event, taking the overall Exec Experiences total to £15,159.05.

As our team of runners recover, the Group reflects on the fantastic efforts of everyone who has taken part so far. The success of Exec Experiences proves that sometimes, going the extra mile really makes the difference.

Jamie Smith, Chief Finance Officer Vertas Group, said: “Leading our team of runners in the Ipswich Half Marathon alongside Brad Sinclair has been an absolute pleasure. I’m immensely proud of everyone who has taken part. Their commitment has not only led to impressive personal achievements but also made a substantial impact on Cancer Research UK.

It is truly inspiring to see everyone push themselves for such an important cause. This collective effort has highlighted the strength and spirit of our team. Well done to everyone involved.”

Brad Sinclair, Opus People Solutions, Managing Director, said: “It was such a privilege to lead the Ipswich Half marathon challenge with Jamie Smith. Our team has put in an incredible amount of training, and it was so rewarding to see it all payoff.

The event has not only showcased our collective drive but has also demonstrated the level of compassion and commitment that defines our team. Here’s to all our colleagues, truly making a difference.”
