Creating Pathways into Employment Through Partnership with Suffolk One – Case Study
Vertas and Suffolk One share a commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for young people as they prepare for the world of work.
Through the Supported Internship Programme, students are given the chance to gain practical workplace experience, develop essential employability skills, and build the confidence needed to take the next step in their careers.
At Endeavour House, Vertas provides placements across a range of service areas, showcasing the breadth of opportunities available within the business while supporting interns to achieve their personal and professional goals.
Supported Interns have gained experience across several Vertas service areas, including Reception, Post Room, Facilities Management, and Commercial Catering.
These placements provide exposure to real workplace environments and responsibilities, from welcoming visitors and supporting front-of-house operations to managing deliveries, maintaining facilities, and supporting catering services.
Alongside developing practical skills, interns benefit from the support and mentorship of Vertas colleagues, helping them grow in confidence, communication, teamwork, and independence.
Chloe joined the Supported Internship Programme in 2024 and quickly became a valued member of the team.
During her placement, Chloe worked across Reception and the Post Room, welcoming visitors, supporting colleagues, delivering post and parcels, and assisting with library book distribution. Through these experiences, she developed strong communication skills, confidence, and professionalism.
Her positive attitude, reliability, and commitment to learning stood out throughout her internship.
When a permanent opportunity became available within the Facilities Team at Endeavour House, Chloe applied for the role and was successful.
Today, Chloe works five days a week as a permanent member of the team, continuing to develop her skills and independence while building strong relationships with colleagues across the business.
Chloe’s success is one example of the positive outcomes being achieved through the partnership between Vertas and Suffolk One.
Across the programme, interns have:
The programme not only supports young people in preparing for employment but also helps them recognise their potential and develop the confidence to pursue future opportunities.
The partnership between Suffolk One and Vertas continues to create meaningful experiences that support young people on their journey into employment.
By providing opportunities across a diverse range of services and creating supportive workplace environments, Vertas is helping individuals build skills for life while strengthening its commitment to inclusion, development, and the communities we serve.
For Chloe, that journey has already led to permanent employment. For many others, it is providing the foundation for future success.
“Vertas has been an exceptional partner in supporting our Supported Internship Programme. The variety of opportunities available across different service areas allows students to gain meaningful workplace experience while developing the confidence, independence and practical skills needed for future employment. The commitment shown by Vertas colleagues has played a significant role in helping our interns achieve outcomes that many would not have believed possible at the start of their journey.”
