Vertas Group Limited was awarded a high-profile contract to provide school cleaning services for Academy Transformation Trust’s 21 primary and secondary academies across the midlands and East Anglia. The contract was successfully mobilised in May 2020, despite the challenge of COVID-19, utilising socially-distanced inductions and virtual equipment training webinars.

Objectives

  • To provide a provision of cleaning services ranging from daily cleaning, specialist cleaning, washroom exchange services and delivery of janitorial products
  • To deliver efficiency improvements and raise the standard of cleaning
  • To ensure the safety of school students and that they are unaffected by working practices
  • To provide comprehensive training for new and existing colleagues to deliver the service requirements.

Solution

  • Significant investment in the latest innovative technology to provide specialist equipment. Delivering the right quality input solutions to guarantee quality standards whilst accommodating the changing needs of each school efficiently
  • Standardised approach to working practices creating quality solutions across all schools through the introduction of One Best Way team cleaning principles. Implementation of this method improved staff engagement, productivity and quality standards
  • All colleagues, new and existing were extensively advised on ensuring the personal safety of students, utilising suitable equipment to avoid risk of injury and safe operating principles
  • Provided a new dedicated management structure totally focused on service delivery and customer satisfaction. Implementing training for all onsite teams, including the initial training of all colleagues on new equipment to improve the standard of cleaning
  • Understanding what adds value to the customer and eliminating waste.
