Vertas Decides to Support Cancer Research UK charity for Third Year

The ten category winners and twenty runners up at the fourth annual Vertas Making the Difference Staff Awards at Milsoms Kesgrave Hall weren’t the only ones celebrating on Friday night.

Vertas Group Limited Chief Executive Officer Ian Surtees announced to 180 guests – made up of staff, clients and sponsors – that the group has decided to support Cancer Research UK as its official charity for a third year running.

Ian presented a cheque for £12,731 to Gill Burgess from Cancer Research UK, which represents the monies raised by staff and customers in this current financial year.

As well as school bake sales, employee sporting events and monthly dress down days, the four Vertas directors will build on their fundraising successes from last year when they cycled from coast to coast, took on a sky dive and the Yorkshire Three Peaks.

Gill Burgess from Cancer Research UK says of the relationship:

“The enthusiasm and creativity shown by the Vertas team in organising and delivering fun and hugely successful fundraising activities is extremely impressive and shows no sign of slowing down. Over the past two years Vertas has raised over £21k and we would like to thank everyone for all their efforts in making such a significant contribution to research. Cancer Research UK receives no Government funding so our life-saving work is entirely dependent on individual and corporate supporters.”

Ian Surtees, Vertas Group Limited’s Chief Executive Officer, said:

“At the beginning of the 2017/18 financial year we started supporting Cancer Research UK by naming them our Charity of the Year, as chosen by members of staff.

I am delighted to announce that our charitable partnership with Cancer Research UK will continue for a third year into 2019/20, giving us the chance to continue raising much needed funds for the study into a disease that affects so many.”
