Vertas Group Chief People Officer Kate Innes is set to cycle an incredible 500km from Vietnam to Cambodia to raise funds for Brain Tumour Research.
The challenging cycle ride, part of the Women V Cancer initiative, will take place between the 25th of November and the 4th of December. Kate will complete the 500km route alongside 75 other cyclists to raise vital funds and awareness for cancer charities.
The eight-day challenge will begin in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and finish at the iconic Angkor Wat in Cambodia, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Beyond the physical demands of the ride, Kate’s journey will carry a personal significance. Kate is taking on the challenge in memory of her father, Roger Harvey, who passed away from a brain tumour in February 2021.
Kate’s motivation is to raise funds for Brain Tumour Research, a UK charity dedicated to funding sustainable, long-term research into this devastating disease. The route itself will be poignant as Mr Harvey’s last holiday with his wife in January 2020 was travelling along the very same route.
For Kate, the challenge will not just be in memory of her father but also everyone who has lost loved ones to the disease.
As a company, Vertas Group is incredibly proud of Kate for taking on such a challenge, and her dedication to making a positive impact in her own time. We wish her the very best of luck with completing the challenge.
