As part of our commitment to reducing waste and supporting our local community, we’ve donated nearly 200 monitors to Suffolk New College for use at Otley College after upgrading equipment at Vertas Group’s head office.
The donation will provide a boost for students and staff, with the college highlighting the benefits of replacing older screens with larger displays and improved resolution. The upgraded equipment will help create a better learning experience while ensuring valuable technology remains in use rather than becoming waste.
By giving these monitors a second life, we’re demonstrating how simple acts of reuse can deliver both environmental and social value. Extending the lifespan of technology not only reduces waste but also maximises the value of existing resources, supporting a more sustainable future.
The initiative reflects our ongoing commitment to responsible resource management and making a positive difference within the communities we serve.
Rather than disposing of equipment that still had plenty of life left in it, we were able to ensure it continues to have a meaningful impact by supporting local learners.

Hannah Fayers, Sustainability & Social Value Manager at Vertas Group, said:
“I’m really proud that we have been able to give these monitors a second life.
“Not only does this prevent perfectly usable equipment from going to waste, but it also helps create a better learning environment for students, which is exactly the kind of positive impact we want our sustainability initiatives to achieve.”
Stephen Mace, Head of IT at Suffolk New College, said:
“The donation of these monitors will have a significant positive impact on students by providing larger, clearer screens that enhance productivity, collaboration, and engagement with digital learning resources.
“The additional screen space enables students to work more efficiently on coursework, creative projects, and specialist software, helping them develop the digital skills needed for education and employment.
“The monitors also improve the overall learning experience by increasing access to high-quality IT facilities, supporting a wider range of curriculum activities, and creating a more professional and inclusive learning environment.”
As we celebrate National Recycling Week, this partnership highlights the positive impact that can be achieved when organisations look for opportunities to reuse and redistribute resources, creating lasting benefits for local communities and the environment alike.
