Celebrating One Year of Vertas Nottinghamshire Limited

This month marks a significant milestone as we celebrate the first anniversary of Vertas Nottinghamshire Limited (VNL), our successful joint venture with Nottinghamshire County Council.

Established with a shared vision to deliver high-quality catering and facilities management services across the county, VNL combines Nottinghamshire County Council’s deep understanding of local communities with Vertas’ expertise in delivering essential services. Together, we’ve spent the last 12 months building strong foundations for a sustainable future while continuing to support the people and places that matter most across Nottinghamshire.

As we look back on our first year, we’re incredibly proud of everything that has been achieved together.

Bringing Colleagues Together

One of the most significant milestones during our first year was the successful transfer of approximately 1,600 employees into the joint venture. Supported throughout the transition, colleagues have played a vital role in ensuring services continued seamlessly for customers and communities across the county.

Since launching, VNL has welcomed around 300 new employees, creating opportunities for people to join a growing organisation while supporting career development and progression for existing colleagues.

Delivering Essential Services Every Day

Every day, VNL teams work behind the scenes to keep Nottinghamshire’s schools, libraries, fire stations, council buildings and community facilities running smoothly.

Today, we provide services across nearly 400 customer locations, delivering more than 16,000 cleaning and caretaking hours and 1,500 landscaping hours every week. These essential services help create safe, welcoming and well-maintained environments for residents, employees, students and visitors alike.

Feeding Communities Across Nottinghamshire

From school meals to our valued Meals at Home customers, VNL now serves approximately 28,000 meals every day, equating to around 5.5 million meals each year.

Behind every meal is a dedicated team committed to providing nutritious, high-quality food that supports the wellbeing of communities across Nottinghamshire.

Supporting Local Suppliers and Sustainability

Throughout our first year, we have remained committed to supporting local businesses and reducing our environmental impact.

By prioritising local producers and suppliers wherever possible, VNL helps reduce food miles while providing fresh, seasonal ingredients for customers. This approach not only supports Nottinghamshire’s local economy but also helps us deliver quality meals in a sustainable way.

Celebrating Success

There have been many moments to celebrate during our first year.

From success at the LACA School Chef of the Year competition to receiving outstanding customer feedback and national recognition for our Meals at Home service from Her Majesty Queen Camilla, these achievements reflect the passion, professionalism and commitment of our colleagues.

We have also remained committed to putting people at the heart of everything we do. During the transfer into Vertas Nottinghamshire Limited, more than 80% of colleagues told us they felt supported and reassured throughout the process, demonstrating the care, communication and collaboration that helped make such a significant transition a success.
